The Everglades
 
The Everglades is the only river of its kind in the world: a shallow body of water and grass 50 miles wide and 120 miles long that moves south 100 feet per day.  You will explore the region by airboat with Everglades Foundation's scientists, traveling deep into a saw grass prairie dotted with tree islands, and you will see wading birds and alligators and pass historic hunting camps.
 
Date:  Thursday, February 4, 2016
Time:  8:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Cost:  $65 per person 
 
Itinerary:

8:30 AM - Depart by deluxe bus at 185 10th Street (intersection of 10th Street and 2nd Avenue South); Parking near by.
Destination: River of Grass - Tigertail Airboat Dock 
10:00 AM - Airboat ride with Eric Eikenberg, Chief Executive Officer and Science staff member of the Everglades Foundation.
12:00 PM - Catered lunch under a chickee hut on a tree island.
3:00 PM - Arrive in Naples.
Dress: Hat, outdoors shoes, sunsceen and possibly a jacket for cool weather.
Equipment: Binoculars.
