Sparker’s Soapbox is a nonpartisan blog, website, and newsletter founded and written by Sandy Parker. Its mission is “facilitating and encouraging informed voting in Collier County and throughout Florida.”
In the weeks and months before elections, Parker researches most state and local candidates and issues on Collier voters’ ballots and shares what she learns. While her focus is Collier County, some of her research on state legislative and judicial races and the amendments are relevant to all Florida voters.
In addition, Parker publishes primers on state or local government topics to help readers understand the news of the day and be more informed voters. For example, she has written primers explaining the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches of Florida government, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners, and the Collier County School Board.
From time to time, Parker also writes about Florida and Collier County government topics of interest and summarizes government actions and activities voters should be aware of.
