Francisco Myslicki and his team help dreams come true for Southwest Florida high school seniors. As Chairman of the Harvard Club of Naples’ Schools Committee, Francisco leads a team of 15 alumni volunteers who serve as ambassadors for Harvard College.
“We interview senior high school students from around Southwest Florida,” Myslicki said. “We then provide the Harvard College Admissions Office in Cambridge with insights that can be helpful to their applications.”
Francisco’s dedication stems from his own experience as a prospective student 18 years ago. “I had a very positive experience in my own Harvard interview, so I knew it was of interest to me,” he recalled. “The best part of interviewing is meeting the many exceptional students from SW Florida. It’s a joy to connect with them as they envision the next four years and beyond.”
The committee's work extends well beyond the initial interview. Once a student is accepted into Harvard, Francisco and his team help them navigate their options. “Often they’re admitted to multiple schools, we help them think about their choices and decide where to matriculate,” Francisco explained. “We stay in contact with them while they’re in school and after they graduate.”
Francisco is also committed to bringing 'new blood' into the Harvard Club of Naples. He encourages graduates to stay involved and highlights the benefits available to current students, such as the internship program, which offers stipends for those working at local non-profit organizations. Post-graduation, the club serves as a sounding board for career and graduate school advice.
Any Harvard or Radcliffe alumnus can apply to join the Schools Committee. While the Admissions Office seeks those with extensive campus experience, the commitment can be as low as one interview per cycle.
“It’s just a joy to meet so many brilliant students,” Francisco said. “Each has a unique story to tell at a critical moment. Doing this work is hugely rewarding for me and for most people who do it.”
